History of LobeStar by Holland Pump

Made in America - Lobestar is the leader in cost effective rotary lobe pump technology.

Holland Pump is the parent company of LobeStar. Founded in 1978, Holland Pump is a dewatering pump manufacturer with 7 branch locations in Florida and South Carolina. Our state of the art 40,000 sq. ft. national headquarters and manufacturing facility is strategically located in Brunswick, Georgia near the I-10 and I-95 corridor.

For many years, centrifugal pumps were used for the wellpoint dewatering process. Wellpoint dewatering is used to lower the water table for construction purposes. Using centrifugal pumps for wellpointing has two major drawbacks. Centrifugal pumps cannot run dry and they require an additional priming mechanism. Unlike centrifugals, positive displacement rotary lobe pumps have the added benefit of being self priming and they have the ability to run dry.

Holland Pump has successfully utilized rotary lobe pump technology to perform wellpoint and sock dewatering. Wellpoint and sock dewatering is a very demanding dewatering application. Water, mixed with sand and other particles, are pulled through jetted PVC points and drain tubes. The "wellpoints" and sock lines are connected to a diesel driven LobeStar rotary pump system. Wellpoint and sock pumps operate at higher RPMS's and are often used 24/7 for weeks at a time.

Holland Pump originally experimented with an existing rotary lobe pump design for their rotary wellpoint needs. After several years of extensive use, Holland Pump design engineers began to see the need to modify the existing design to handle 24/7 heavy duty use. Although happy with the original pump’s design concept, Holland Pump engineers and management began to see the need for a more robust version of the original design which included the development of a cartridge type mechanical seal capable of higher working pressures. After thorough patent research and advisement, Holland Pump began research and development of the LobeStar brand of rotary lobe pumps.

Today LobeStar manufactures 10 sizes of rotary lobe positive displacement pumps in 3 different duty configurations.

LobeStar pumps are ideal for any thick viscous materials, such as municipal sludge, and any application requiring self priming and/or a steady pulseless flow.
